What I learned in last year.

Today is my birthday. In 2012 on 15th January I decided to start writing. Since I started doing that, lots of positive changes have surrounded me.

The following blog is about what I learned between 15th January, 2012 till today – the same day of 2013. I am sure you have your own list every year. Following is the list I have of all the lessons I learned last year, hope you find it interesting.

  1. Follow your instincts. Your curiosity n instincts will lead u to greater achievements.
  2. Separation from a person will only make you understand and help you realize how well you are really connected with them. May put any sort of relationship to a test. Whether it is your life partner or a friend.
  3. Realization is the first step in any transformation process. Until you do not realize that change is needed or wishful, the transformation for good or bad will not commence.
  4. Breads and almonds will start burning while toasting, right when you take your eyes off them.
  5. It’s dangerous to be a back stabber. Because while you are busy trying to attach someone you may trip over a banana skin and stab your own self. (no I did not do that)
  6. Luck plays a major role in your progress.
  7. If it is meant for you nothing or no one in the world can stop you from achieving it. If it is not meant for you nothing or no one in the world can help you get it.
  8. Nothing is impossible for you if you decide to do it. And mean it.
  9. Everybody gets 24 hours in a day. You can make it feel like 2 hours or 200 hours. It is entirely up to you.
  10. Whether you compose music; publish a book; get that big break in your acting career – everyone you expect may not be as interested as you thought. Just accept it and learn to go with it.
  11. Your daily horoscope is not always correct, but if you find something positive written there. Convince your brains to believe it’s true. It will help you big time to live the day positively and happily.
  12. Co-incidences may have something in common, may b a sign. Last year on 15th January 2012, I decided to do something with my life that may help others, I decided to start writing something inspiring and positive and started a blog. That led me to publish a similar self-help book “Get Inspired Get Thinking”. This year, I got a picture of (Indian) Goddess Saraswati, let’s say she is the Indian version of Muse. Today I read my sign.
  13. Ask your close friends who are reliable to give an honest feedback about your performance at new venture, ask them for suggestion. My best friend was very honest about my writing. That led me to studying writing techniques. I have stopped writing for a bit, but I have to admit, while I am busy studying writing techniques, I am already feeling more confident about writing better next time when I sit down continuing the inspiring fictions I am in the middle of.
  14. The way you use your Facebook or twitter and your access to internet in your free time – it all together will affect your thinking and your behaviour accordingly and vice versa.
  15. Always try to see the other side of the story. Listen to others before judging the situation.
  16. Disasters can strike anywhere any time. This world didn’t come to an end on 21st December, but if you had your eyes wide open and yourself awake, you may have noticed that crime and other crimes which looks like an accident are increasing. Human race is ashamed and scared to some point – that my friend is almost similar to the end of the world. It is the end of the world, if you cannot go places and do what you feel like in the moment, considering your safety and keeping it in the core of everything you do, no matter where you are. Yes, I am referring to things like gang rapes, body parts of a person found scattered around in the park, some weirdo killing people in a theatre or even school kids to cross the limits.
  17. Rely on God and your prayers a bit more. It will only help you gather all the positive energy around you that randomly floats in the Universe, which no one else wants to claim.
  18. If you do not believe in God, That God you can find even in a rock. Because we are people, we see God in a similar body form. (Who knows, may be a Dog sees God on four legs. Did you know? “There are some Dogs who think we are Gods”). But with all the faith and devotion and prayers, you can have a rock or even a pebble turn into something omniscient. It is all about how much faith you have to show.
  19. Sometimes it is important that you do know who is running which country. Sometimes that does not matter at all, as long as at the end of the day you can catch a sound sleep answering yourself that “yes, I made a difference out there today, positively.”
  20. You get what you give. I never cared to leave a review of the book I just read or the game I just played on the website I bought it through. My e-book was downloaded more than 700 times roughly (including free promotion days), but I only received 1 review. So many of my friends told me they liked the book, but I did not get any review that will help the sales. That time I realized how important each review can be. It hurt me not having review, good or bad (because even a bad review helps you realize what improvement is needed in your work), about my book. Now, I am eager to hear from even one more reader comparing the number of downloads to the number of reviews. I am now making sure to leave review of anything i experience.
  21. New Year resolutions, birthday resolutions – they all sound cool. But you do not have to wait for such special day to start making changes for good. It can be today or tomorrow. You may decide on 22nd March, to start making positive changes in your lifestyle for healthy living and may achieve such amazing results, by next year that 22nd March may become a very important day for you for rest of your life.
  22. No matter how small you think your job is, it is the way you do it will make the difference. No matter what you do, make sure you do it so good; no one else can ever replace you.
  23. You don’t have to be satisfied financially only with what you do as a job. If there is a job you know out there, doing which you will feel peaceful and happy grab it without thinking of the money. It will give you more happiness than the one that will pay you more money and you do not like.
  24. Having a blog mascot is a lot of work. Lol… if you have him and your followers like it, make sure they get a lot of it. If you cannot commit to that, don’t introduce one at first place. That’s for you, speedy sparks.
  25. If it makes you feel good, do it. No matter what it is, you do it because it makes you feel good. Doing what makes you feel good, will help you bring “the real you” out in front of the world. You will be more loved that way.

The funny cat lesson.

Here is the image I saw on Facebook 2 days back. I was laughing hard reading what’s written next to the cat picture.

Then it got me thinking, besides being funny doesn’t it all make sense? Why should someone put limit to life.

There is nothing wrong in being someone else. Well, it will be only if you don’t know your real self and try to copy someone.

But there is nothing wrong in aspiring to be something more than you are.

Wonderful lesson in this picture I found. That pipe and that cat – I don’t know really who is trying to be what, HA HA.

—————————————————-

For sake of this cat and the pipe trying so hard to inspire the world, we should all remind ourselves right now that we are capable to do beyond anyone’s imagination. You are filled with the strength to move the world. You are capable of doing what had been waited to be done, because no one else was good enough to make it happen.

Start your day strong, stay strong, finish stronger, be a legend, live forever.

And Remember the Cat lesson. You can do better than they think.

finding-ness

Finding-ness” is not a word. It is the reality I was hit with this morning.

Years ago, me and my best friend went to watch a movie called, “you, me and Dupree”.

In that movie Owen Wilson (Dupree) talks about finding your “ness”. We got the lesson about this “ness” meaning what makes you “you”. Ness was a word for us to talk about for a while. Today he again reminded me of “ness”.

It has been over 8 months I started writing on regular basis. And in past 2 months I couldn’t do it as much or almost any of it. Now, when I am trying to get back to online writing he makes me realize that I am missing my “ness”.

In his email he reminded me in form of a polite complain, that there are no more “speedy sparks” cartoons. He nodded affirming quietly from 12,000 kilometres away when I asked him, “Do you think something is missing?”

I was missing my “ness”. Perhaps I still am missing my “ness”.

So, shall I take a break and give up writing? No, that would only make things worse.

Now, he has me thinking, what I did before that I am not doing anymore. I used to carry a small writing pad everywhere I go. I will note down a topic in the center of a page. I will start thinking around that thought and keep writing all those thoughts into what looked like small bubbles popping out of the central thought. I remember there were times when within an hour or so I would have 10 pages filled out just with the ideas of what to write about. How will I bring my “ness” back into my writing is my challenge. But, here is yours for today.

Think –

Are you missing your ness?

Where is your ness fading away lately?

Why is it fading away?

What used to make you “YOU”?

If I hit my target right and if I am lucky enough, then I will have this read by people who really need to realize that they are losing their “Ness”. Bring that ness back in game. Think of all the reasons that got you the job that you love. Think of satisfying your customers you used to a year ago. Think of all the reasons why your ness is running away from you. Fight for your “ness”. Your ness builds you the stronger you.

There are some dedicated readers out there who seeks inspiration daily. Then there are some beginner level writers out there like me, who may fall short in trying but do not stop because they realize how inspiring someone can make a whole lot of a difference. And then there are friends like the one I have who inspire the “inspiring writers”. He always did that right. I can tell he has his “Ness”.

Let your Ness rain all over the place. Take your ness with you, wherever you go. Your ness makes you, “you”. Hit the pause button. Look for your ness.

Everyday you wake up to give your best. If you are not ready to give your best, you still would have to drag yourself through the day, earning the bonus of feeling “extra tired”. If acting like a 11-year-old kid makes you “you”, yet helps you seal the deal then be it, without being afraid of being judged or criticized.

Do what you are good at. Do it the way, you are best at.

If you can just be yourself, then you have to be original because there’s no one like you.

God is Now here

Some believe, “God is nowhere”.

If you shift that W in no where adding a space then it reads, “God is now here”.

Feel the presence of God, and everything will feel smooth and under control.

This blog is inspired from couple of signs I read in this week. I am usually a person, who observes what is going on and try to relate one thing to another and try to read the sign.

It was last week, I took my wife to a “new immigrant evaluation” program. She was to give some English language test there. After the test was over, I had a chance to talk to the examiner. The chat was interesting and I told the examiner how I enjoy writing and catch simple mistakes in English I use, as I keep writing more everyday.

When talking about writing she said, “If you are writing for a good purpose, what you must do before you sit down to write is try talking to God folding your hands, and ask to give you the most pure and inspiring thoughts that will help you and the readers in a positive way.”

I was touched by what she said. To some of you it may sound a bit stupid, but I thought over what she said over and over. It made a lot of sense when I lately tried it a few times. I am not too sure of what I wrote and what I am writing is any good and if my words have the impact I wish I can put into it, but lately every time I sit down to write, I feel more and more confident after I have prayed to God to help me unleash the most inspiring thoughts to generate more good and more positive out there.

Something similar came to my way when I put my mp3 on 2 days back.

I mix different genre of music in my play list. While listening to 2pac n Elton John’s “Ghetto Gospel” soundtrack, I found a line something similar.

“I feel his hand on my brains, when I write rhymes; I go blind and let the Lord do his thang.”

That was part of 2pac’s rap in that track.

Like I mentioned earlier, I read signs. I have a habit of observing and relating one thing to another, trying to get the bigger picture.

Well, that is just me. But if you ever feel down and feel God is nowhere, try convincing yourself to believe, “God is now here” and God will show up. He won’t show up in his direct form, but he will show up in your actions and in your thoughts indirectly making you feel his presence.

Good luck trying that.

My ebook is coming out soon. I know I bragged about it long and was away for too long. Too bad of an image to create, when you have followers. But now my cooking exams are clear, and back to writing. the ebook is ready to be edited and to go to amazon.

Will see you with more very soon.

Keep reading and spreading the germs of positivity and try inspiring someone; you may just make their day or may be their whole life, you never know.

why to worry?

Why to worry? – something that my father used to tell me.

He would often find us – kids,  worrying about something that may be happening soon; something that we are afraid that is coming up. In my case, I would be mostly worrying about tests in school or visiting a new place where I would have to deal with strangers or something as simple as having to wake up early next morning.

Do not worry about your difficulties in Mathematics. I can assure you mine are still greater.
– Albert Einstein.

I used to be the one (using my own example I am trying to relate to many people out there who think or act like I used to) who would be deep down busy worrying about silly things that may happen.

That was the time when he(my father) used to say, “you are not even sure of those scary things happening; worrying about things that may not even happen, you are only allowing the matter to weaken yourself from within. You are worrying without even being sure of things to be worry about.”

This exactly is an issue that will make you lose your today. You are letting your “right now” slip out of your hands by worrying about tomorrow.

Half of the terrible things we worry about do not even happen, or may be more than half of them.

So, do not forget to live this moment. Do not get too busy worrying about what is happening tomorrow.

———————————-

I believe God is managing affairs and that He doesn’t need any advice from me. With God in charge, I believe everything will work out for the best in the end. So what is there to worry about.

Get in a Good company of 5 people.

It was just yesterday I watched the Avengers. I’m sure many of you have seen it already.

Amazing what few good people can get together and do.

Get in a good company of 5 people, why? This is kind of similar theory like the Avengers, but with a different twist. Avengers were put together in order to defeat the impossible for the mankind alone. While this theory is to bring the best within yourself.

For example let’s say you want to turn into a vegetarian but find it impossible. Then you find 5 other vegetarians. Sit down and eat a few meals with them; talk to them; try to fit in. It will help you have ideas how to get over meat cravings or come up with vegetarian recipes. What happens here is, alone you were not being able to stay vegetarian, no matter how hard you tried. But now in order to fit in, you kind of have to lift yourself up a little bit to a certain level in order to be part of the group.

Same goes for workout resolutions or achieving any other sort of goals as a hobby. If you wish to be a daily blogger you should try to get in touch with other 5 daily bloggers. You will often end up reading or figuring out how they end up having ideas to publish something new and when there is a promise to keep you will act for sure.

So, getting in a good company always lifts you higher from good to better and eventually will lead you to be the best before you even notice it. Get it? Well, then start trying it.

Owner of the Emerald – story and a lesson

Here is a short true story with a few facts changed. It was published once in Time magazine. It’s a story of an Emerald stone.

There was a doctor who owned Emerald. He never had clue what it was. For him it was only a decorative stone he found somewhere once. After all he started using that stone as a paper weight in his office.

Gachala Emerald

One day a man walks into his office for some business who happened to have a lot of knowledge and value for jewellery and stones. He saw this Emerald sitting on the desk, which should actually belong all the way back hidden in some sort of safe. He instantly offered the doctor if he can buy the stone and settled a deal for a million dollars (trying not to be very unfair). The doctor was surprised and actually happy to struck such a deal that day.

After a month that man sold the Emerald for over 11 million dollars. That money could have been made by the doctor, but it didn’t work for him. Why? Only because he did not have any value for what he owned.

——————————————————————————

Us and that doctor are so much alike. Often we do not understand the value of the character or talents that we possess and inspite of being owner of such valuable treasures we try to find happiness outside in materialistic pleasure. It is us who do not spend time and efforts to search the inside of ourselves to discover what potential we may have.

Arabs were poor before they figured out that there is a big load of treasure right under their feet – the oil. Once they found it look how rich they are now.

Same is this cartoon here, Speedy thinking he lost the map to get to the mountain while its right there sticking on his shell where he can’t see.

All of us are filled with such treasures. Think hard, try harder to look inside what good qualities you are filled with and use them for your benefit.

That’s the beauty of life – We spend whole life looking for something which is often found right under our feet.

Have a good day. Thank you for reading.

Chameleon Theory

A chameleon has an ability to change its color and blend into the surrounding. Human body does not have that ability of course. But, what we do have is our will that we have a control over.

Chameleon theory talks about being adjustable to your surrounding. The reason I called it Chameleon theory is because this characteristic is found in that certain reptile. It changes its color to fit in(mostly for protection). Take a pause and think how powerful and witty nature can get. Every creature gifted with different abilities. Simply amazing.

What we can learn from chameleon theory is to blend in to the surrounding no matter where we are. What makes us sad is not having things our way around us. But only if we try to accommodate to our surrounding by changing ourselves a little there is no room for sadness or disappointment left.

Look at Speedy Sparks here, blending into the surrounding. If you are familiar to Speedy Sparks (my blog mascot) looking at previous articles n drawings; you will find him here in this picture on a race track with his greenish red spotted shell with racing stripes (that’s just his birth marks).

(okay fine, its not the greatest or perfect example but it was a funny idea I had so here it is another cartoon of the day…ha ha…).

Easy enough to figure it out now that it is mostly us who attract and cause most of our disappointments. Only if we learn to adjust and be happy in the moment; into the place we are at, there is no way we can be unhappy.

Lesson learned from a chameleon without using any mean of communication and just by observation. Open your eyes and understand the values of what surrounds us, something on these lines is my tomorrows article about – owner of the emerald.

Have a great Monday and remember to practice “adjusting” today. Try it for a day and see if it works for you.

Lessons in Movies – 1 (running after your passion – spoiler alert)

So this is only the first article under the topic of “Lessons in Movies” and there are going to be a few more.

These articles may contain “Spoiler Alert“, although I will do my best to keep the secret the way it should be – interesting and for you to find out.

Today’s movie pick (as I mentioned in yesterday’s blog is “The Big Year“).

Currently I am writing an e-book and there is a chapter in that book about “getting in touch with nature”. I must admit I found the most amazing way in this movie – The big year, to get in touch with nature. It is about birding.

Speedy Sparks birding on a day off

The story is about few passionate birders (people who like spotting different species of birds). These birders don’t describe birding as a hobby but they define it as a passion. That will remind you that every one of us has different passion. I am sure you are passionate about something in particular.

Now, there are three main characters played in this movie by “Steve Martin, Jack Black and Owen Wilson“. There is a birder with a world record and he is trying to break his own record this year (in the story). There are other 2 main characters who are his competition. All three of them carries same passion for birding.

But they all are making different sacrifices and they all are prioritizing different things in their lives. That reminds me of some of us, who may put Passion first in life while others will make sure their passion do not cause any damage in other part of life. That is the lesson in this movie.

You will see a journey of these 3 competitors across america and other parts of the world just for spotting a bird. But these characters have different situations in their life and different challenges. This movie will teach you exactly by the end that how your passion can effect positively or negatively to your life.

                                                                                                                —————–

You see we all grow up doing different things; making different choices; loving something more than the other in our lives. But, at the end what matters is “your inner happiness and satisfaction” with the choices you made.

This realization was the best moment in the movie. I must say you gotta watch it. Sometimes, not only the journey counts but it is also the ending or what some of us call the destination. Same quote I put down in the beginning of a chapter in my fictional book (as much as I love bragging about it, I confess I have hit a huge block in that fictional story which I haven’t managed to overcome in past month now. So, for now only moving on with my e-book. Thank God at least something is going on).

So, watch this movie and see if you find it interesting. I watched it just because the cast and crew sounded very interesting to me and at the end of the movie I felt I got away with more than just the entertainment.

You can make a difference even at -273C

Hey, so here is an interesting image I created to explain what would Speedy Sparks feel in different temperatures. He is just super awesome, so just flow with me and see where I am going with this okay.

Now, above you see is how well Speedy Sparks will survive in different temperature zones. He is doing fine even at 2C. He would be freezing to almost inactive at -100C and at -273C even he is nothing.

-273C = 0 K. Yes it is zero Kelvin temperature. Lord William Thomas Kelvin came up with this unit of measure in 1848. Don’t get bored yet, it gets better. Past 2 days I had been busy doing research on the internet; trying to find out all I can about absolute zero condition explained by Lord Kelvin. He came up with Kelvin as a measuring unit of temperature to measure extreme heat or cold.

Now, my question to you is if at 0 K that is -273C nothing can exist (even different gases in the air freezes by -222C), do you think Lord Kelvin went there personally to measure it and prove it. No, absolutely not. But, everyone believes his calculations; his experiments and world wide in the field of Science this Kelvin measure is used.

What I want you now to do is ask yourself a question, can you make any difference in the world? Well, Lord Kelvin came up with a revolutionary helpful measuring unit of temperature, why can’t we do something small or something new? Verbally, he made a difference at -273C; don’t you think we can do much better at a room temperature we are mostly surrounded with?

The beauty of this is he did lots of other things but there are million of other things that he did not invent. It was always a different person behind different inventions. I am not asking you to invent some materialistic thing to help mankind. All I am asking you is to believe in what I am saying and most of all believe in yourself that you can make a little difference around you and make this world a better place if you think a little extra. Just come up with some positive thought and pass it on, that would be a greatest invention we can use these days.

That’s all man, its that simple.

———————-

Hope you enjoyed reading this and hope I made some sense. I was trying to keep my thoughts as clear as possible in order to explain what I want to say. Hope I could get it to you. Tomorrow gets better. I watched this movie called “the big year” last night starring – Steve Martin, Jack Black and Owen Wilson. Will talk about that movie here tomorrow. Just in case if it interests you and possible for you please watch that movie once today if you can.

Thank you for your precious time. I have a feeling I will be able to be lot more creative with the help of Speedy Sparks.

Cheers.
